2010 Cost-of-Living Adjustments for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
and Transportation Benefits  

HSAs:

The HSA contribution limits and High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) requirements for 2010 are:

  • $3,050 for self-only coverage (a $50 increase from 2009) and
  • $6,150 for family coverage (a $200 increase from 2009).

The catch-up contribution limit (for individuals who are 55 or older) is $1,000.

The required minimum annual deductible for 2010 is at $1,150 for self-only HDHP coverage and $2,400 for family HDHP coverage.

Maximum out-of-pocket expense limits for 2010 will be $5,950 for self-only coverage (a $150 increase from 2009) and $11,900 for family coverage (a $300 increase from 2009).

Transportation Benefits:

The monthly limit that can be excluded from an employee’s income for qualified parking benefits for 2010 will remain at $230 and $230 for transit and vanpooling expenses combined (an increase as amended by ARRA).
